ABOUT ME
I am a Professor of Teacher Education in the School of Education at Nevada State University in Henderson, Nevada. Nevada State University is a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI). I received my doctorate from the University of San Francisco in International and Multicultural Education with a minor in Educational Technology. My teaching and research interests include educational technology, online teaching and learning, teacher training, and teaching English as a second language. I am the former editor (2020-2023) of Contemporary Issues in Technology and Teacher Education (CITE), General, Journal.

In 1997, I taught English as a second language at Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic. In 2000 and 2003, I completed two participatory action research studies in South Africa (for more information on these studies, see the Publications section).
In 2012, I received a Fulbright Specialist grant from the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs to Sakhnin College in Sakhnin, Israel. As a Fulbright scholar, I trained Arab teacher educators and students on educational technology; photovoice, the use of documentary photography and storytelling as a research methodology and teaching strategy; and participatory action research.

In 2012, I also completed two international teacher-training fellowships. As a visiting fellow to the University of the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia, I trained higher education faculty and teachers from Indigenous schools from Papua, Indonesia on educational technology. As a visiting fellow to the Marino Institute of Education in Dublin, Ireland, I trained faculty from five Catholic universities on educational technology including, The Church of Ireland College of Education, Mary Immaculate College, St. Patrick’s College, Froebel College of Education, and the Marino Institute of Education (The University Dublin, Trinity College).

In 2015, I received a sabbatical and worked with teachers at a newcomer high school in Las Vegas to flip the math curriculum (Graziano & Hall, 2017). In 2022, I received my second sabbatical and trained secondary teachers in Clark County School District on tools, techniques, and best practices for distance education (see Graziano et al., 2023). I continue to publish journal articles and book chapters on teaching, learning, and educational technology, and I routinely speak at regional, national, and international education conferences.
I co-edited Online Teaching in K-12: Models, Methods, and Best Practices for Teachers and Administrators (Bryans-Bongey & Graziano, 2016) published by Information Today, Inc. and authored two chapters in the book.
I also co-edited Championing Technology Infusion in Teacher Preparation: A Framework for Supporting Future Educators (Borthwick, A. C., Foulger, T. S., Graziano, K. J., 2020) published by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE).

I am one of four researchers who developed the Teacher Educator Technology Competencies (TETCs) Together, my colleagues and I served as guest editors for a special issue of JTATE entitled Preparing All Teacher Educators to Support Teacher Candidates’ Integration of Technology (2020). Our work with the TETCs has been nationally recognized by the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE). We received the 2021 Edward C. Pomeroy Award. The Pomeroy Award is a professional achievement award that recognizes outstanding contributions to teacher education at the collegiate, state, or national level.

I also received the 2020 International Society for Technology in Teacher Education (ISTE), Teacher Education Network (TEN), Journal of Digital Learning in Teacher Education (JDLTE) Outstanding Research Paper Award for my co-development of and research with the TPACK leadership diagnostic tool.

My latest project that I developed and taught, Teachers Taking it Online (TTO Program), is an online 6-week synchronous and asynchronous professional development training for secondary teachers (and parents) in Clark County School District on tools, techniques, and best practices for distance education. The program is sponsored by the Nevada Department of Education Elementary and Secondary Schools Emergency Relief (ESSER) grant. I am the former chair of the Consultative Council for the Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education (SITE), the former chair of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education’s (AACTE) Committee on Innovation and Technology, and the former co-chair of the SITE’s mobile learning SIG.

My work in the classroom and community has been recognized and honored by my peers. I received the 2012 Nevada System of Higher Education, Board of Regents’ Teaching Award; the 2008 Nevada State College iTeach Economic Development Award; 2007 National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Excellence Award; the 2006 Nevada State College iTeach Teaching Excellence Award; the 2006 City of Henderson and Henderson Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Teaching Award; and the 2005 American Education Research Association (AERA) Scholar-Activist Award.
My work has also been featured in local newspapers and magazines such as the Henderson Home News, El Mundo Newspaper, and Meet the Neighbor in the Las Vegas Zip Code Magazine.

When I am not teaching, I enjoy traveling, foreign films, hiking, writing, and spending time with my family in Connecticut.
